So for a long time people have made shitty games by taking normal boring fps and mixing it with "rpg elements" ie. an inventory system or maybe some random spreadsheetery. Having played most of the tabletop rpgs ever I found it kind of shitty that like the simplest possible red box character sheet corner was enough to call a game an rpg, even though it's clear the devs involved were just bad at their jobs and didn't understand their own line of work well enough to make an fps with anything new or interesting to it.
This other team of people have a kickstarter for this game that takes from the gurps/hero deep end of the tabletop character sheet pool: you design your own attacks. No word if you can load 5 80-point powers into an elemental focus, but you get all kinds of psionic/gun/melee and movement options and smaller tweaks to make them interesting.
Anyway it's just another boring shitty-looking (fp?3p?)s but look at the actual idea they're implementing because that's potentially cool as hell.
