I gotta say the sewer level > blighttown > swamp level > hell level progression kinda sapped my enthusiasm for the game. I could have handled any of these if they were interspersed with some outdoor levels, but fuck, stacking them all up was a shit idea. It was cool to make a continuous walk from the surface down to hell, and it does a good job of stressing the vertical scale of the world, but I think their grand level design got in the way of making a fun game there.
Then, Tomb of the Giants. LET'S HAVE A LEVEL SO DARK YOU CAN'T SEE THE END OF YOUR DICK. At that point I was pretty much grinding through to see the ending and saying fuuuuuuuuuck you every time I died. |
