It's more of a buddy movie turned revenge flick than a full-on Tarantino Spaghetti Western as I had been led to believe, and it's far less pretentious and meta than say Kill Bill or Basterds. It's still very Tarantino, though, and it's probably somewhere between 20 minutes to an hour too long (YMMV), but being that it's 2012's black movie basically every fault can be masked by viewing it in a crowded theater. Aplause, cheering, laughter, the simmering silence of white guilt; the perfect Christmas movie. |
