This game is great, and I've played it over a hundred hours.
But don't fall for the Ironman horseshit. The game is far too buggy for it to be practical letting the game enforce this, just had one ruined where my squad enters a battleship, opens the first door and cannot go through it. The doorway survives rockets, an open smoking ruin but the path remains glitched and blocked. This first room of the battleship actually contains the Skyranger, but all the troops die if they try to abort. The game also does this frequently on other maps like the boring ending, or times when you can find alternate routes, but it can also do it directly in your anus like in my particular case. So to hell with this buggy ironman horeshit, I have enough self-control that I didn't reload when anybody died on my own. It's just a gamemode to screw yourself over with bugs.
But what the game desperately needs is a gigantic map-pack addon/DLCs, whatever. There's just not enough variety to these maps. I bet if Bethesda were publishing this it would have had a free map editor/UN mission maker, and I would agree about the game of the year part. |
