| I got 100% completion and most of the achievements, but I don't think I'll even uninstall it because I'll probably go back to get all the red rings and find the various paths through the levels, of which there appears to be just under a billion. THAT'S HOW MUCH I LIKED THIS GAME. ^____________________________________________________^
2 things Yahtzee nailed: the final boss with rings that are impossible to see because there's too much shit swirling all over the screen and the rings are tiny. Second, there's definitely something wrong with the button recognition at times. Not just the jump button, but all of them. I'd intermittently have problems trying to navigate a fucking menu without hammering the button 2 or 3 times. That's a problem in a game that requires super speed precision timing. He also mentioned a horrible level from Sonic 2006, which I never played. If it's modern-mode Crisis City, then yes that's the worst level ever. The last half is slow tedious platforming, made even slower by wind slowing you down to a crawl. Because everyone plays Sonic for the parts that are slow and stupid. But that level is immediately made up for in Rooftop Run which is amazing. If you don't want to play through the levels more than once, then you'll pretty much hate this game because a lot of it relies on remembering various parts to know when and where to get to branches in the levels. It's basically impossible to make a decision fast enough the first time through without knowing what's coming up ahead, unless you tip-toe through the level. And once you remember where things are, you still have to execute pulling off jumps and so on to reach them. And then replay to execute everything perfectly without slowing down, which is immensely satisfying and shows off the level design. Definitely worth the $7.50 I payed for the game. If you don't believe me, then take Erik's word for it. |
