Very player friendly, compared to the second which had a nasty habit of filling your time with killing the same groups of people over and over on your commute. They went too far with UI, both in terms of clutter and intrusiveness, but they seem aware of the problem and are going to add options. It borrows a lot from terrain control third person games like Just Cause, Scarface, Saint's Row, but in general has a much superior approach to enemy AI. There, they've struck a balance between challenging and prone to making reasonable (within game logic) mistakes. Like, once line of sight is established, if you break it they look for you in that direction. It's not Crysis:Warhead North Korean good, but I like it in the context of an open world game.
The hunting tries to mimic Red Dead Revolver, I think, and it succeeds in some ways (like adding much more interaction between wildlife and people, sometimes to hilarious effect) and fails in others (the animals don't feel anywhere as organically integrated into the environment; more Dragon's Dogma than RDR, sometimes, but not in a good way). |
