Arcanum is great in that you can whore out a character completely early and destroy enemies you would never normally be able to even conceive of fighting. Unfortunately this means creating a massive ogre that doesn't use any type of weapon, the most obvious choice imaginable, since physical attacks are far more powerful than magic or anything else EVER, and the magic weapons I encountered weren't that fantastic. Creating an orc with the "legendary hero" trait is nice as well, since you get a rather difficult to find magical sword right from the beginning. I personally got sick of having to collect every spring, gear, and bolt because I refused to get rid of anything that might ever be used to create an item, so I didn't play all the way through. |
