I have seen Hidden Fortress and read quite a bit about Musashi, but that's fairly irrelevant. Why? Because George Lucas has seen it, and he has said only about infinity times that he lifted scenes directly from it for A New Hope. As for the Samurai Trilogy: were those linked synopses wrong? Show me the right ones and mind you, I've read about a dozen seperate ones. None of which are particularly different from the others, nor give me any indication you're remotely correct.

I didn't read about the Samurai Trilogy from google.com. I read about it on amazon, the NYtimes, Barnes&Noble, and several sites penned by far freakier Japanophiles than you could ever be. Or anyone. You should show George Lucas if you get the chance, since even he doesn't know he lifted chapter and verse from Inagaki's films. Anyway, I'm with the majority who thinks Lucas parsed elements from the Samurai Trilogy for the new SW trilogy. He's proven to be a huge fan of Japanese films and has never hesitated to borrow from them, or other films.
