The thing that sold me was the juxtaposition of how lame the costumes looked in real life verses how cool they looked in the kids' imaginations. ALSO TAKE NOTE GEORGE LUCAS, none of the kids imagine themselves as kids wearing kiddie-sized versions of grownup hero gear.
Kids don't even like imagining they're human if they can help it.
