I'm usually of the opinion that bad games are worthless, while good games are worth whatever you can afford (whether that's full price, piracy, or anything in between). But Costume Quest isn't really a game, it's more of an interactive holiday special - and a cheerfully inoffensive one, at that. It's five hours long with no challenge or replay value, it has a cute theme that embraces the absurdity of console RPG mechanics, the writing is on par with a good modern children's cartoon, and it never asks you to do anything you really don't want to. As experiences go, it's probably more satisfying than watching five hours of Disney XD, and almost certainly healthier than eating $7 worth of overstock Halloween candy. I think you would need a heart of stone to feel ripped off by Costume Quest, but a head of mush to feel well-served by it. |
