Also, what is with MMO developers not wanting to explain how their game works by Rafiki 09/23/2012, 1:04pm PDT
Guild Wars 2 takes it to a whole new level by giving you a "Hints" panel that contains no actual hints, but instead brief explanations of how to play the game. They could use a few more hints on how combat works, since it confused the hell out of me when I changed weapons, sold my old one, and then went back to questing only to find out all of my abilities disappeared with no explanation as to why. Later I got a tooltip popup mentioning combos and how I should expirement to find new ones, but I had no idea how I did a combo in the first place and the game didn't feel like telling me. I think a lot of modern developers have confused basic instructions with finding all of the nuances with their gameplay system. It's like if Parker Brothers packaged Monopoly with the board, game pieces, and a piece of paper that said only, "Make the other players go bankrupt," and told you to "discover" all of the other features of the game.
