| We have all heard that nothing serious can be discussed on Caltrops. Well they better not!!
Here's what has been killing me about the Voyagers for a while now: communication. Can anyone get info from Voyager? Can anyone now send info to Voyager? Hear me out for a second. This thing was sent out with 1970s technology. It's amazing that it was sending back images of, what, 1024x768 resolution back then. They weren't fucking around. But, OK, it is clearly listening to Earth for instructions. (Or at least it was for much of its life.) Fast forward 30/35 years -- what prevents a motivated amateur from sending an instruction to Voyager? Is the process encrypted? (I can't believe any encryption method from the 70s would hold up in 2012.) Is it most people's lack of a power source to fire off a signal into the heliopause? Well, OK, even if that is the case, Voyager is sure as shit sending information back nicely. Is the information required to get the information coming back hidden or classified or something? I don't even know who to begin asking these questions to. Help me, Caltrops. Get me pointed in the right direction. We'll figure this out, get famous and then see Ben Schumin destroy our work again. the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey! |
