I did my semi-annual Windows re-install yesterday. It took TEN HOURS. by Jerry Whorebach 07/28/2012, 1:00pm PDT
80% of that was spent shepherding Windows Update through five years of patches and service packs. Is it really necessary to require human input at every stage of that process? Why can't I just sink my PC into "update mode" and come back eight hours later to a fully-functional machine, instead of an unread license agreement and seven and a half more hours of updates? Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I always feel like I'm doing it wrong when I have to deal with Windows, like there's probably a real interface hidden somewhere in there for Microsoft-certified Power Users, and I just haven't found the right registry candlestick to pull on in the ridiculously byzantine fake interface to expose it.

Just buy a new copy that includes the service pack. It's only really expensive. NT by Eurotrash 07/28/2012, 11:14pm PDT NEW
