The thing I LIKED about their ugly Spiderman game was the freeform combos. This looks like it has sko gay coin-collecting combo score mechanic, which means there's one correct path through the level. :(
There have only been 3 classic platformers I really loved, and one of them isn't even "classic:" Rastan, Magic Sword, and Strider 2. Call me shallow, but one of the biggest selling points for me were these games having fantastic graphics for their time. This game just looks ugly. His helmet looks protective headgear for retards.
I'll buy it if they release it, but Overgrowth has kind of soured me on preordering games. It's been more than a year since I preordered and this is literally the most exciting Alpha video they've ever made:
This is not high praise, it's because they're finally done dicking around with making bushes sway realistically and finally concentrating on the gameplay. Why weren't they doing these tests while they were still using primitive models?
