Maybe we can turn to Call of Duty for a fresh original palette. Just kidding, they smudge some blue last second just to fuck with you. Inverse! This looks like a gritty parody of Team Fortress 2. What should we draw the player's eye to? That banner might as well read "fuck you". Sorry, the "fuck you" award should have gone to tying a blue bandana around your horse to match your escort. The fuck? Is that a realistic fire lighting up a realistic sky? *sigh* I had lost my Penumbra save back in the last hard drive wipe. I put off replaying it forever, dreading the slog through through what I'd already played. Finally I bit the bullet and it turns out it was just as tense and scary as before, even though I was rushing through everything I knew was coming. It's a 7 year old game that looked dated even then and the combat is sub System Shock 2 wrench swinging. What stuck out the most though? The flashlight lit things up like light should! Here's an old shoestring game doing lighting better than every AAA title rushing over each other to make light and shadows look like someone splashed the Nickelodeon logo all over Van Gogh's Starry Night.
