Every mission had some sort of time limit so you were always pushed forward. It turned it into kind of an inverse tower defense game, where you produce creeps and force your way through the AI to an objective before the sun burns you up/something explodes/massive reinforcements are teleported in/etc. It was pretty hectic and fun.
The time limits are not just a countdown that screams YOU LOSE when it reaches zero. The burning sun mission has a wave of flame that constantly advances so you must relocate your base constantly, one mission has a giant mech that advances and you must protect, or a super unit that roams around and blows up objectives, etc etc. Usually they added a neat twist that required different tactics or strategy. |
