| I just tore through this beta and beat it, and not once was I having any fun
I used to have a blast playing any kind of turn-based isometric thing but the minute they change to realtime I'm just irritated and not engaged and of course those are massively popular, tons of diablo clones and tons of dota bullshit and a million age of empires types but pretty much these games are just tedious as hell there's even a couple really good ones on iphone like battleheart which is an awesome game, some of these are super slick but after an hour it's like...who gives a shit I think the thing with turn-based is maybe the level of focus required is...maybe only just before you hit 'next turn' where these you kind of have to be everywhere at once. or maybe that's just a function of how I play them, where with turn-based games I'll just kind of sit and play all day, and it's ok if your focus comes and goes over the course of it. where with rts it's better to only play them for however long you feel like focusing on it, and then you're better off stopping altogether for a while, and I just never adapted to it because I only sit down to play games when I've got hours open ahead of me |
