Every so often I think TV is fucking with us given the boring jobs they make Reality Shows about. Here's a reality show about the exciting life of a longshoreman! Here's a reality show about a tattoo parlor!
But I understand the reality TV, it costs peanuts to make. Get yourself a cameraman, an editor, some stock "excitement" music, then find the biggest jackasses you can to "star" in the show. No pesky union writers needed!
But video games are another matter entirely! It's a time-intensive painstaking process from design to programming. So how the hell does a game like Stone Quarry Simulator 2012 get made? Look at those screenshots! Here's the player operating a jackhammer in the middle of an empty ravine! Here's the player driving a white van! Who the hell is the market for this? I think it's a fair bet there's no skill involved in the game, so why would anyone pick this shitty monotonous job as their virtual escapism?
And why is there 2012 in the title? Is this a long-running series, like Madden? Has the whole universe gone insane??? |
