One of Mass Effect's core strengths has been its story, which is particularly well crafted in Mass Effect 3, in part because it gets to tie up so many loose ends. Rather than leaving options open for a sequel, the game makes the most of the chance to take the sum of your decisions and show you the outcome. What did you do with the Rachni queen? What did you tell Conrad? Did you dance? It almost all comes back, one way or another, but never in a way that feels forced. Everything you experience in Mass Effect 3 feels like the natural, organic culmination of your actions - whether you can live with the repercussions or not.

SPOILERS

this isn't true at all. big decisions: letting the council live, and making anderson a council member instead of udina, are completely ignored by the new game. who gives a shit if you danced or not. the rachni queen is there one way or another, it's just "artificial" if you killed the original, which is literally meaningless since if you let it live it's a fucking reaper cyborg instead and nothing changes. anyone who died at the end of me2 has a stand-in who is not any different than them, they just have the character stuff from me1&2 subtracted. I feel kind of bad for anyone who starts a new game with this and picks 'numerous' at the beginning for "who died under my command"
