Enemies can injure other enemies!
I think I was dead wrong about this. Oh well. And those fucking fat guys seem to be able to whip through walls. Yet another reason why fat people are terrible.
I picked the Wanderer class without knowing anything about any of the classes, and after killing the bosses of 1-1 and 1-2 I found out it's probably the most difficult class in the game to start with. Whoops!
So far I've beaten 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1. Magic seems stupidly overpowered right now. I trained up just enough to be able to buy a single spell (flame bolt), and it usually hits for over double what my melee attacks do and I can use it without having to get close enough to most enemies where they can hit me. It made the 4-1 boss a complete joke. My mana bar is tiny, so I can't spam it and need a bunch of MP replenish items but it trivalizes what I would imagine would be incredibly difficult encounters. Although I guess I could accept that as a reward for adopting flexibility. I'm told the game balances out more, though?
The difficulty seems way way frontloaded. A big part of that is just learning how to play (Tower Knight and the spider boss on 2-1 kicked my ass all over until I learned to dodge properly), but buying stat upgrades makes a HUGE difference plus equipment upgrades are all over the place in later levels (including entire armor sets on a single corpse [?!]).
Still, loving the shit out of this game overall. Glad Atlas hasn't shut down the servers yet, but I don't know how many people are still playing. I see a lot of ghosts running around and messages, but I haven't been invaded yet. |
