In other jpop news, Gackt releases new album ("Love Letter"), fanbase loses what's left of its testosterone store. Seriously, syrup-n-snore on this one. Can he compensate by being in New Fist Of The North Star and an eminently playable action game? We all agree it was better when he was an Ziggy-esque and oddly androgynous rock star instead of a rent boy singer and a faux-butch voice actor tied together. And for people following the state of the art generally, the Korean Invasion continues in full effect: Jewelry (the band!!! with girls in it!) is so hot that we can only be distracted by the solar hotness of se7en's utterly retarded new release, which is blazing up the charts and the hearts of jpop's female fans worldwide; livejournal bidding on his pelvic thrust has already seen violent drama; and the Hyde/Gackt/Mana bishie axis is facing stiff young competition from a direction the Japanese market was unprepared to contemplate. BUT! In tangentially Fussbett-related news, one of winter's biggest j-hits, popular across Asia, was a popular Japanese soap actor's rendition of Wham!'s "Last Christmas."
Also, Ja Rule appears on one of February's j-rap releases. It's as stupid as you think it is. Who wants to hear it? |
