Windows 7 explorer restarting loop by fuck me 02/16/2012, 11:02am PST
So I've fallen prey to Windows Explorer telling me it's restarting every 5 seconds. The taskbar disappears, comes back, and repeats every 5 seconds. Minimizes and freezes every program while doing this. It always happens when my wi-fi begins searching for connections (before turning to the red x icon). The only change I've made since last worked was a Windows critical update. Fuck those guys! All future auto updates disabled.

Restarting in safe mode it mostly goes away, except with it occasionally doesn't.

In either case, it seems EVERY possible Windows connected program is disabled. Clicking on My Computer/Control panel/Office/Media player does nothing. The /scannow cmd reports errors but cannot fix them all.

Tech support forums are the usual mess of ARE YOUR DRIVERS UP TO DATE.

Currently going through checkdisk and trying system restore.
