At one point during my last Singularity session, the mission objective printed on the HUD was literally "ESCAPE FROM THE SEWER". I'm not sure that's the sort of goal that needs to be explicated. If you put me in a sewer, you can pretty much take it as read that I'm going to try and escape from it. If I didn't, it might be time to consider the possibility that the surface world is better off without me, even if it's still the messed-up alternate surface world where Soviet chrononauts won World War III.
However, immediately afterwards came the highlight of my experience so far: using telekinesis to snatch health and ammo out from under the noses of some blind killer mutants who hunt by sound, imagining my (apparently mute?) sewer marine trumpeting each acquisition with a cheerful "Yoink!"
So, you know, it's got that going for it. |
