The only mode with an online leaderboard is Score Attack, and it gives you infinite lives. This means that if you want to register a score, you have to play ALL the way from beginning to end, using as many planes as it takes. Not only does this require you to set aside a good half-hour per play for a game that's really only fun for five minutes, it's also tantamount to an admission on Sega's part that this thing was made to eat quarters.
It's possible I wouldn't find this quite so aggravating if it didn't seem like 99% of my deaths were due to accidentally rolling when I only meant to bank, presumably the result of mapping a control scheme designed for a full-sized arcade flight stick directly onto a much less forgiving analog thumb stick. Hey, AM2, how about just letting me use the left and right shoulder buttons to roll? Then I would NEVER HAVE TO DO IT EVER BECAUSE IT'S FUCKING USELESS FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT SHOWING OFF THE NON-EXISTENT HYDRAULICS IN MY ORDINARY CHAIR. |
