The space combat is very nice, though they've developed some bugs recently that make it more annoying that it should be (they should have it fixed this week, I hope). Ground combat is a slog, and generally not fun until you're doing team stuff against the Borg at the level cap.
If you think of Star Trek as being about diplomacy and exploration, you won't like it as 90% of this game is about blowing stuff up. There are some good story line missions, but most are kind of stale. PvP arena matches are worthless and generally empty. Klingon play (after you get to level 25 with a Feddie) is similar, though I think it's got a much better introduction and it's more fun to decloak, smack around another player and recloak than anything else. Sadly, they copied a lot of the Fed storyline missions (usually the center piece ones) so its kind of lame.
My only serious tip is to really explore the interface. Click every button, drag things, etc. You'll want to know how it all works, especially the power tray for the ship, it will fill up REALLY fast and you'll want to know how to make it work. |
