It's a action RPG that plays like some weird 2d version of Devil May Cry. There's a lot of exploring, dungeon crawling, and goofy dialog which you might angrily skip. It's all done in the SD moe style of Recettear which again might bother you but it's not really intrusive and feels just like an old SNES game. It's amazing to play such a gay looking game and have it be literally harder than any action RPG in recent memory. I'd have to call it unfair at some points, the combat is fluid and gives you a lot of options but the enemies can stack and at least on hard difficulty they're downright psychic with counters and you really have to learn quickly to "stop doing that" or you'll have your ass kicked in addition certain enemy combos are incredibly frustrating too.
However without that challenge there wouldn't be much reason to play, it's got a cute story but not really a strong or interesting one. However it is a great and challenging platformer so you can just roll up your sleeves ignore the cutesy elements and be ready to get your shit slapped. P.S. there is an issue with really bad slow downs in the menus, not everyone is getting it but I did and it's pretty fucking annoying, you might want to hold off until that gets a patch. Also it's left it's sale period, it's definitely worth 20 dollars but just more reason to hold off a little while. |
