I just downloaded the latest catalyst from ATI (at 300+kB/s ^_^) when it was giving me trouble, and the game ran fine. I don't know if the Doom 3 Beta drivers are meant as something that will repair problems, or meant as something that will just give you better preformance.
It seems to be running better now, with a cursory test (ran through the first part to the elevator down, which was the 1st crash before.). As a side benefit, it now runs at 1024 with no jitter. My question is: what kind of rig do you need to qualify for high quality? If I do the system search it still autodetects me at Normal, 640. =(
My computer is brand new and has all the fixins, so I don't know what the deal is with that. |
