At times he was like the Filthy Critic of video games, not afraid to unabashedly shit on overpraised garbage. He still has the best takedown of FF8 ever made.
The problem is broader than skits. Some people don't even put the inept effort into skits and just mug in front of a webcam for their youtube video instead of just showing the thing everyone came to see. Nobody gives a shit about the person behind the upload but more and more videos have over half the clip length taken up by credits and webcam intros.
"Spotlight syndrome" would probably be more accurate.
