I still prefer Master of Magic as my fantasy empire sim. Master of Orion 2 however gets far more play on my netbook overall.

Caesar 3 is a fun city-builder. It isn't as harsh as Caesar 2 and better than Zeus. Pharaoh is superior, but not available.

The Longest Journey is probably the best adventure game ever, along with Another World.

Jagged Alliance 2 is tough and unfair at points, but up there with X-COM for it's squad and turn-based gameplay.

Dungeon Keeper is a classic, one of those games copied, but never perfected.

Arx Fatalis tries the FPS/RPG genre and comes in at C+ compared to Bethesda. I though it was B+ at best. Hunt down a demo if you can.

Anyone play Star Wolves? I tried the demo, not sure if it's worth my time.

I would counter that Majesty 1 perfected the gameplay of DK, if not the setting. by Mischief Maker 12/23/2011, 12:14am PST NEW
