| Will it be worse than the prequel to "The Thing?"
I know, let's do a prequel to "The Shining!" Finally our questions will be answered about what exactly happened to the Grady the previous caretaker and his family. SPOILERZ: Grady goes insane in exactly the same way Nicholson did in the original except he loses his mind in a matter of hours instead of days; complete with the nutty manuscript, only THIS one is handwritten! Grady's daughters are menaced by the ghost of a little boy in 50s clothes who morphs into a screaming bloody demon. This time not only does a river of blood come pouring down the hallway, it floods the entire hotel and the victims have to smash a window open and slide down the roof to escape. The scene from the original book where the topiary animals come to life and attack the family are rendered in unconvincing CGI. Grady, of course, says "Heeeere's Jack Paar!" In the end, when the hotel owners and police are examining the bloody aftermath in horror, Dick Hallorann, played by Cuba Gooding jr, makes a solemn oath to his friend Larry (From the sno-cat rental place) that he will use all his psychic powers to make certain this never happens again. |
