I don't like the fact from last night through most of today, Comcast has been providing spotty Internet connectivity, with some times it working and some times it being dead, or dropping out for a while, coming back, and dropping out. In one case, I noted that a download froze half-way through. at least I can see the cable modem and notice the ONLINE lamp is either out or blinks instead of being steady lit.
The thing is usually I don't have a problem. Comcast's Internet is usually flawless and I rarely see anything wrong with it. Unlike the situation I had with Verizon's DSL when I had it a couple of years ago at my old address, and it routinely either failed to operate for long before dropping out, going offline or was painfully slow by comparison.
The dead giveaway is a slow or failed connection to Google. If you can't get through to Google's home page or if any of its services are unreachable, the Internet is down. Period, no argument; for all intents and purposes the Internet is Google and if you can't get through to the company that has more bandwidth than probably the next three highest capacity users combined, your Internet connection is not working.
