...if they hadn't already used the same location, to better effect, in the first Condemned. Still, you can't say they're not learning, as that game forced you to slog through two levels of subway tunnels just to get one level of schoolhouse, and this one gives you two levels of schoolhouse before you even get to the subway tunnels! And I did get a laugh out of overhearing one replica soldier tell his squaddies to "[set up a fire position] -- [by the donkey]".
I'm surprised Monolith still hasn't re-purposed Condemned's department store level, since that's the one everybody seems to remember most fondly (how much of that is down to it being genuinely creepy - which it was - and how much is due to it being the first place you go after that interminable subway crawl is open to debate). I suppose they don't want to tarnish its sterling reputation with the inevitable diminishing returns? |
