I was able to get Doom 3 installed. by Creexul :( 08/05/2004, 11:11am PDT I also got it to work just fine and be really cool. If I was the kind of person who could go around buying games, I would agree that this is worth buying. That is with the implication that you have a system that can run it. I don't meet the requirements for RAM, but this game still runs better than Painkiller did. And Painkiller was boring. Doom 3 is cool. And I don't even have enough RAM to run it, and it still runs and looks cool. I'm sure it would be better with more hardware and upgraded video cards and shit. One day I will be getting these things. I remember after the previews and stuff, I was like, "it probably won't run on my computer, and even if it did it would have to really deliver on a good game to go with the graphics and stuff." And then it did deliver. The end. Actually I promised a more full review so I guess that will be coming up. Perhaps all us Caltrops gang should get together for a group review, since this game is a pretty big deal. :( One small note first: I remember there was a part during the intro when you're just walking around talking to people, I saw a crane that was all wavering and shit, and I was like, "is this going to fall or what?" But I moved on. Later, after demons turned people into people without mandibles, I was backtracking through that area, and all of a sudden a bunch of giant huge things fell from the sky and rumbled and started tumbling down the stairs in my direction. And at the same time, I was running backwards furiously, and thinking "oh, of course!" The payoff might work especially since in between those two small moments, Doom 3 is still showing and introducing to you a ton of shit you've never seen in games before. Even on my shitty computer that either barely meets the requirements, or doesn't. Wow!
