There's a cave area over by the jump ramp by Fullofkittens 09/06/2011, 7:39pm PDT It's full of these burrowing caterpillar bug things which completely destroy you if you get too close... but which are easy to one-shot with a sniper rifle. (They are a few levels above you when you get the quest.) Walking through this cave with a sniper rifle immediately gets you through the doldrums in the late teens.
