interesting that you list a bunch of gawker sites by jeep 09/05/2011, 6:08pm PDT
I stopped reading them and deleted all my bookmarks to their shit like 2 years ago, I only saw that one because someone linked it in irc.

I saw that gawker controversy the other day about the chick and the magic player, and it reminded of why I quit reading and tell other people to quit reading: gawker is shit and will always be shit, it's run by a vicious retard and generates no meaningful content on its own. gawker hates nerds and nerd shit and doesn't replace it with liking anything, but has a terrible secret: they absolutely can't survive without their nerd readers, because nerds are the gatekeeper to high-value traffic from link sites like reddit

look at gawker's acquisitions and how they're treated in relation to the sort of core content parts of gawker. io9 is a credibility loss leader to get nerd eyeballs. I guess the credibility loss is with gawker's own employees or something because no one outside of gawker's offices or ragey nerds on the internet even pretend they're journalists or relevant or anything other than an excellent test target for the latest adblock plugin.
