I've been collecting high-def movies from Goem since I built my new computer in 2009. I've since filled up my hard drive, and have been forced to actually watch these films. The first up is 4 months, 3 weeks, and 2 days; a film about a woman helping her friend getting an abortion in Romania in the 80's.
There's a scene where they cant' afford the abortion, and *spoilers* the roommate sleeps with the abortionist to pay for the procedure */spoilers* Shit goes downhill for her from there, but the people on IMDB are calling it rape. My question: does this constitute rape? A woman agreed to have sex with a man in order to get him to help her. Isn't that just a normal western relationship? Isn't this movie just saying gender politics Romania were well ahead of the times?
Side note: I was dating the love of my life, and she got pregnant by accident. She miscarried, and the doctor had to remove the fetus. She called that incident her abortion for the rest of our time together. Should that fact alone have been a reason to leave her behind?
I need to stop drinking and typing. Who knows what sad facet of my life will be revealed next? |
