No, not at all. Not even close actually ;) As heretical as it will sound, FFVII is the only one I’ve never played (I know, I know, kick me to the curb…). My favorite Final Fantasies being 3(or 6 Jap), 9, and 12 (with 12 most probably my top FF ever). So anyway, because of this, the whole Midgar concept from FFVII has never really been a reference of mine. The idea of Hengsha came from having watched a mockumentary with my team of concept artists, fairly early in the conception phase of DX:HR. Great question man, thanks! :)
