I had actually watched some asshole's youtube review, I mean it wasn't bad or anything but basically he complained about how there were too many strict time limits in the game but that just isn't true.
if you enjoyed the demo at all well the full game is like 1000x more awesome shit the demo doesn't even get to. the trailers all make the game look like you spend all your time shoveling dirt around but in actuality you get a range of special powers to help you shape the world and get your guys from one place to another.
the graphics and physics engines really are as amazing as the trailers make them out to be. occasionally you might notice how flat the edges of the water is (are?) when it forms a tsunami or when jellified and piled up into a tower, but that's the worst of it. meanwhile you can pour infinite sand piles into a giant self made mountain, wait for it to slowly slide down the hills and reform into softer shapes, and then zoom in close and see grass and plants coat the dirt in real time. then spray lava all over the place, watch rocks form, fire burns forests down, water trees empty their bladders pouring water down the hills in small waterfalls, see rivulets cut into the sand and make rivers, etc.
some other issues you might have tho: lava instantly forms rock layers from top to bottom, one of the challenge modes takes advantage of this "exploit" where you have to pour a giant protective crater of rock around a village, whatever it's not a big deal. however, self made rock formations tend to be nearly impossible for your guys to walk across no matter how level they appear, but sprinkling them with sand will correct this
definitely worth 1200 points |
