I pirated the game last year to try it, but it was extremely unstable (probably due to it not being patched) and I just couldn't get into it. that was probably due in part to the punishing opening where you are forced to use stealth yet all your stealth skills suck cock and there's no way to tell if an enemy can see you clearly until they are ringing the alarm and shooting at you. however, after buying the game on steam sale for nearly nothing I did get back into the game and it's not as bad as I remember (again, probably because I could patch the game, the few remaining bugs are not game killers). it actually was enjoyable to play as something along the lines of a modern day solid snake if he didn't become totally gay and retarded like he did in all the mgs sequels, even when stealth fails you can still succeed by shooting everyone to pieces with some cover based third person shooting. the hacking lock picking sneaking and silenced takedowns are really fun, and the story is enjoyable as a gameplay element as well. |
