Yeah, you can guess. But that's the end of the case. Once you accuse someone it's over. There's another case that even gives you the option of letting a guy go or waiting or something. On that same case there happened to be a location I hadn't visited yet because earlier I had gotten a call to return to headquarters immediately, so I did. Didn't realize I would be walking into the end of the case, so I thought I'd be able to visit later. So I'm interrogating a guy and I have the option to let him go. So I figure I can just let him go for now, go visit the final location, and haul him in again if I need to, right? WRONG! Immediately after I let him go, a witness I talked to earlier in the case just randomly walks into police headquarters and starts screaming that the guy I let go is the one he saw. CASE CLOSED. Then the chief starts screaming at me that I'm a stupid asshole that almost let a guilty man get away. Christ.
That's the biggest problem with the game. Everything feels completely beyond your control and the consequences don't really matter. As far as I know, you'll still get through a case. So go ahead and intentionally charge the wrong person. 3 stars, TIP: Cops try to arrest the correct person, next case. I get the impression that someone really wanted to make a detective game, which I think could be fun, but someone else was afraid it would be too boring so they added a bunch of action sequences, borrowed the GTA engine, and forced you through a story. Basically Mass Effect and LA Noire need to swap features. Take Mass Effect's action shooter and RPG stuff and turn it into space GTA, and make LA Noire a detective game with a branching storyline and softcore. |
