Or rather, I named her Otdalyonnaya and the WS named her "Miffles" which unaccountably stuck. Among The Girls she is referred to as the Snake Priestess because she loves the feel of live snakes writhing in her mouth. She has two hobbies: trying to get under the covers when everyone else is trying to sleep, and killing. I have never met such a gleefully murderous animal. She will leap up into the air and snatch birds from the sky itself, and smile for hours afterward. We were out in the yard reading yesterday afternoon. It's not often that she gets territorial like this. It was very cute. :3 Miffles is ridiculously small. She has not changed sizes since I brought her home from the shelter. Also, she knows she's the pretty one. One time my brother's friend was over and Miffles climbed in her lap and started milk treading. It must be understood that Miffles' claws are like hypodermic needles but more ruthless, so the friend was quite pained. But being a cat lover, she didn't want to distress the "sweet" kitty offending her at the moment. "How do I make her stop?" She asked me despairingly. "Oh, scratch the top of her head," I said, smiling. Also, the strawberries are in bloom. This is probably my last spring in this house; one way or another, I'm moving in the fall. It's a nice house but I will miss the big yard more. There's another cat, Kiki, but her chief business is forming impermeable lumps in sheets. Sometimes people say "ha my cat could sleep through an earthquake" or whatever but this one actually did. She's very pushy and incapable of learning from experience about things like "don't sleep directly on the face of humans." She adopted us; when she showed up at the deck door one October afternoon, she weighed four pounds and was probably on the verge of starvation. But now... She has suffered all she cares to, and now considers suffering to be the sort of thing best experienced by everyone around her.
