I was hoping for something more interesting, but (and this should come as no surprise for those familiar with her interactions with QB) so far her posts been pretty pedestrian. She hasn't yet submitted her discussion topic to the community board (which is due by tomorrow), but here's her introduction:
Hi everyone,
Have been in U.S. since 2005. Recently a sub teacher for 3 districts. Last week I ran into some middle school students in store. They asked to take a picture with them. These girls really made my day.
I have contacted the Extension office, need to mail in a lot of documents (e.g. 3 letters of rec, transcript, CBEST...) in order to obtain the acceptance letter. Since this is 2nd course of CLAD, the lady said still OK without the letter. I will formally apply after this course. I need to keep up my mental shape to take the course. After completing the CLAD cert, wish I could be an ELD teacher even though I know the chance is slim.
And here's her response to another's introduction, (which she posted under the wrong thread):
Hi Donald,
From what I gather, you sound like new in the teaching field. For me, I have been teaching for 20 yrs in Hong Kong before coming to CA.
THe best part of teaching is sometimes you will learn from your kids. It is exciting when they give you good /insightful answers.
WHen subbing, I feel bad for the little kids who need to learn quite a lot of vocab that are beyond their experience and understanding.
Hope you fit well in the job.
So, whaddya think? Have I got the wrong gal here? I'm hoping her constructed response will contain at least one reference to the importance of faking a pregnancy to engage students in the learning process. |
