The first ever computer game released on CD-ROM was a contemporary re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland, called The Manhole. To quote from the description on MobyGames:

And just like auction rate securities, the most likely endgame for every one of these projects is a class-action lawsuit on behalf of swindled investors :( |
