It could probably do without the Tower of Hanoi etc but this actually feels like a Zork game, which is a little surprising since I've never heard anyone talk about this one at all, plus I think this was about the point that the company imploded. After a couple of early bottlenecks which you need the manual to solve it opens up and keeps throwing options at you rather than having to solve mingy little sections. There are a few annoying bits involving the jester but lots of rewarding puzzles as well. The ending is dumb but the story is more coherent than anything else in the Zork universe up this point.
I still think there's an entertaining post to be had if ICJ tells us what he thinks of Beyond Zork, and perhaps Moriarty vs Meretzky in general. |
