These ones in the second game sound pretty crappy though. :(

I find them to be very similar to the first game in terms of difficulty, but I didn't rely on exploits, so I can't comment on that angle. But I have two good stories:

Fighting a chef who can run off to grab a bite to eat and insta-club you with a frying pan when you're close was infuriating, so I grabbed a spear and a toy helicopter which hovers in the air and acts as a saw turret. So not only was I now able to spear him from a distance out of frying pan reach, but the helicopter choked off one of his food routes, costing him HP each attempt.

Another battle seemed so impossible I put down the controller and consulted the internet. Some youtube guy showed me how he used one of the blender concoctions to get "quickstep" and outrun their attacks, picking them off slowly. I went back to the game and explored the bar near the boss battle to find quickstep ingredients. Instead I found a "Health 2" magazine (double health bonus from all food) and another toy helicopter. CLOSE ENOUGH. The battle was now a piece of cake as each time I ate a piece of cake I got full health and just tanked them, luring them into the helicopter anytime I healthed up.

Fun shit.

The part that sucks is actually the much praised weapon crafting. It's a chore, and the weapons aren't that much more effective than baseball bats and swords, which is why the game incentivizes the combo weapons with the PP bonuses. Because otherwise it's too much of a hassle to lug shit around to workbenches, especially stuff that won't go into your inventory and must be carried. But even with the PP bonuses, gathering and crafting is all valuable time that could be spent saving people for way more PP (and sometimes more) without components taking up valuable slots in my inventory while in transit. I mean I appreciate being able to make a nail bat and defiler (fireaxe + sledgehammer) on my way out of the safehouse each time, but I don't see myself going out of my way at all to make anything that's not in the direct vicinity of the workshops. And you know what would be better than having me craft either of those two weapons I mentioned every single time? Just finding them. Or once I've crafted it once, having the survivors I've rescued work on building the weapons for me while I'm off adventuring. And then as you save more people they get faster at making the weapons or can even make different/better ones. Holy shit, I just improved the fuck out of this game.

I miss taking photos.
