Has anyone seen this before? It was referenced in this article. All I can say is: watching the game at the stadium is vastly preferable to watching on TV because a) commercials are terrible, b) the announcers are terrible, and, most important for DVR man: c) you can't see shit on TV. The view of the field is so much better in person, and I don't need to worry about the networks coming back from commercial or some stupid digression to the middle of a play already in progress. Remember in Super Bowl XXXIII when TV viewers all fucking missed Elway to Rod Smith for an 80 yard TD because it happened right after a change of possession and the network was lazy about getting back to the game after the commercial? SO GREAT. We got replays, which DVR man may consider just as good. I don't. >: [
And it's the same reason why I can't watch a recorded game, except as a nostalgia thing: I need to know what happened when it happened. Who listens to the Kentucky Derby after it's over? Anyone in the entire world? I doubt it.
As for the game being boring, I guess I just disagree. At the stadium, which this guy thinks must be a NIGHTMARE, it seems to go by pretty quickly. There's a lot going on, and most people in the stands are discussing the game as we're watching it. Some of us are way stupider than others, of course. One of my favorite moments was in 2005 against the Patriots. Lots of Pats fans nearby and they're saying stuff like, "Why isn't Corey Dillon in there?" after Amos Zereoue ran the ball for a short gain. Uh, because he's hurt you jackass. And it's not like Zereoue was some chump. (Looking now, I see another guy had the main job at tailback that day.) Later, after we all yelled IN.COM.PLETE after a Brady misfire (which opposing fans and QBs DESPISE), one Pats fan explained that it HAD been a completion, it was just out of bounds. Ooooh I see. *hand to chin*
So in conclusion we should destroy Massachusetts with nuclear fire. I'm not sure if that was my original premise but there it is. :( |
