He wasn't elected. Eliot Spitzer got caught fucking a prostitute. Literally everyone else in NYC and upstate New York is of fine moral character, so obviously Spitzer had to go.
Almost immediately after Paterson got the job, he pulled a "lol, my wife and I cheat on each other all the time HURRRRRRR /blind" which - I want you to understand how fucked up New York State is -a bunch of scumbags flipped their shit to get a prostitute-fucker out so they could replace him with someone who is just a big a piece of shit, only lacking the slightest bit of competency to actually BE governor. The greatest blind black guy in history is still 325 years from being born. NY State will never, ever get out of the hopeless cycle of despair it's mired in, because the problems are very difficult to correct, and the people who haven't left the state yet (and plan on permanently staying) are, by and large, both horrible people and very stupid, so they're not going to be able to ever get or elect the leaders that could maybe solve the problems.
I would never move back.
