But I think you understand that there are many AAA games that have promised significant results in return for decisions you make in the game, that characters would respond to what you did in a manner that made sense. There were games like Gothic that offered literally nothing else except that in tiny bits, and it was rightly recognized as an achievement even if it wasn't your bag. It was the reason that Fable 2, despite being a reasonably good game, remains a failure: because that was promised and not delivered.
All of it in AP happens within the framework of dumbass Tom Clancy/James Bond bullshit. And it's still a unique experience from everything that has happened since games started relying on voice, and one that's worthwhile for people that value their say in the story. It's not Deus Ex, but I don't think it's really trying to be. |
