That's what I thought and that's what seems to make the most sense. But the ending doesn't work unless the winter scene is real (and not just a dramatization of the training scene). If it's real, then the three at the end are the three surviving kids, and the last one actually died during the real fight, just as he pretend-died during the training fight (when his stupidly teleporting, previously invisible blue flag thingy was revealed to have been ripped off him). If the winter scene isn't real, then the three figures at the end could be three kids, or (more likely, because one is tall) the trainer and two kids who are shown together just before that, and either way the image doesn't mean much of anything.
It is a puzzle not a comic. :( |
