but seriously comparing them, in mercs2 if you want to do anything but run and shoot you gotta open your menu pull down some airstrikes throw a short range smoke grenade wait for the dust to settle then go and see that your airstrike completely missed the target and throw another 10 or 50 or however many extra you bought
That was the biggest disappointment in Murx 2 was the airstrikes, they had it perfect in the first game, where the very first airstrike you get is free from the military and it's a laser designator thing. In this, your most basic one is the same thing, a target bomb, it's not exactly hard to hit when you want to take out a building, but you have to throw a smoke grenade which is totally gay. The airstrikes that require lasers are way way expensive and I probably only used 2 or 3 in the entire game.
On the upside I still remember the coop adventures, I think you and Btren were playing and he was carrying an HVT out of a zone that was exploding behind him while you were blowing shit up flying a helicopter blasting shit and exploding barrels and airstrikes. THAT JUST SOUNDS AWESOME.
I remember mostly me and Kred (from Btrens sexbox three hundred and sixty degrees) were riding a helicopter to the top of a skyscraper, throwing airstrikes onto the roof, and then flying away just as the rockets started raining down around us and the building collapsed. There were the few times we were flying away and a rocket directly hit the helicopter so we would just go flying off and falling along with the collapsing skyscraper. 5.0 OUT OF 10 VERY MEDIOCRE IF I DO SAY SO
Capturing HVTs is good and all, although they're not part of a deck in Mercs 2, they're just generalized dudes, you don't have to really hunt for them anymore. Still it's lots of fun in coop. They added new shit with some patch, but only after we stopped playing. |
